Marijuana Edibles 101
If you are about to go on a vacation and looking to head out to the cannabis friendly state of Colorado to smoke some weed and hashish, then you should know about edible marijuana products. You may have tried a homemade brownie that one time in the past with your friends, but you have never experienced the true potency, quality and high that comes from a well-made, licensed manufactured marijuana edible. So on your cannabis adventures around Colorado you will see many options for edible marijuana products and CBD edibles as well. Here are a few key items to review before you decide to enjoy an edible.
High Potency
With recreational marijuana edibles you will be getting a significantly higher potency than just smoking it. Most licensed marijuana infused edibles are often made with the most potent THC oil you can find, so the mixes are very strong. On top of that you are eating it and it’s all being consumed into your bloodstream, so none is wasted. All recreational cannabis edibles will be no more then 100 milligrams of THC.
Start Slow
Because of the high potency and the long lasting highs, you should start off slow. Eat only one or two pieces of marijuana infused food. Edibles can take up to two hours to take an effect so don’t take more until you have waited at least two hours.
Wait it out for the full time, don’t wait for 30 minutes, decide its not working and then stuff your face. Be smart about it. When the THC of the edible hits you, wait longer to feel the full effect. If you then decide you want more, its up to you. But being slow and practicing moderation is best.
Benefits of edibles
There are many benefits to eating edibles; it’s healthier, it gives you a different kind of high (more of a body, muscle and mind relaxing state) and you’re getting high and having munchies at the same time. There are so many different types of marijuana edibles to try, it makes a joint start to look boring. You can have salty type items like crackers and chips, but most edibles are of the sweeter variety, like brownies, ice-cream, chocolate candy bars, gummy bears and other deserts. There are also a few cannabis infused drinks on the market like Canna-Punch, (juice infused with marijuana) to Dixie Elixirs which are soda type infused drinks that have more then 8 various flavors, our favorite is peach.
Portions
Make sure to start slow and be sure to try to portion the correct amount. Feel free to ask the bud-tenders about any edible you purchase, however 10-30 milligrams is usually enough for most. A lot of the gummies, chocolate bars, mints, or any pieced out type of candy is the best for portion control. Brownies and baked goods are harder to control the portion. Remember to let the affects of the marijuana edible hit you before you decide to take more, and that can 45 minutes up to two hours to feel.
I (a long time smoker) have experienced a good high off of three 10 milligram mints, so take it easy.
We recommend to first time users, go VERY slow, have a friend with you, relax and don’t get stressed, remember to enjoy it. Or its best to stay away if your too apprehensive.
We also want to say that edibles will effect everyone differently, and might not be good for everyone.Be careful when enjoying your marijuana edible.
Have a safe a enjoyable time on your travels!
