Can you bring your weed into the airport? Some places say yes, most say no.
Can you take Cannabis into the Airport? It is interesting to think about the fact that in some US states, cannabis is legal, yet at their airports, it remains illegal to have on your person. So if you are flying into a state where cannabis is legal, and you have some on you, technically, you would be breaking the law as soon as you stepped foot onto airport property. This seems like a bit of a silly Catch-22, but it is the reality of the situation.
So what do you do if you find yourself in this predicament? Well, unfortunately, there is not much that can be done. The best thing to do would be to consume all of your cannabis before entering the airport property, or simply leave it at home. However, we understand that this is not always possible or desirable.
If you do find yourself in possession of cannabis at an airport, the best thing to do would be to discreetly dispose of it. Some airports have what are known as amnesty boxes, which are essentially boxes where people can deposit illegal items without fear of repercussions. This is usually done in order to reduce the amount of contraband that is brought into the airport, and it seems to be working quite well.
Of course, this does not mean that you will be able to simply walk through the airport with cannabis on your person. The amnesty box is only for items that are illegal to possess within the airport itself, so if you are caught with cannabis outside of the box, you could still be subject to arrest and prosecution.
However, the amnesty box does offer a way for people to travel with cannabis without having to worry about getting in trouble at the airport. If you do choose to use an amnesty box, just make sure that you put the cannabis in a sealed container so that it cannot be detected by security.
Denver International Airport does not have such boxes so your better to dispose of it before you get there, or find an out of the way trash bin to place it in. I always tried to find an adult in my hotel that is 420 friendly and donate the leftovers to them. Good way to pay it forward.
Now the opposite is the case in Los Angeles California. You can carry cannabis anywhere inside the airport (LAX) up until you get to the Transportation Security Administration. They go by federal law and to them it is illegal.
In the end, it is up to you to decide whether or not you want to risk traveling with cannabis. We would always advise against it, as it is illegal and you could get into a lot of trouble if you are caught. However, we understand that some people will choose to do so anyway. Just be aware of the risks and take all the necessary precautions. Do some research on what airports your entering and see what the regulations are before your trip.
Have a save and fun vacation!
